Coats pt. 1: Feminine
With Fall in the air and Winter knocking at our back doors, you can figure why every magazine you pick up is featuring coats. We're at that time of year where it's time to start dusting off our coats or heading to the store to grab the latest trending coat. Well...this Fall/Winter seasons still offers those good old "faithful" looks, however they do have a few spins, so instead of your blacks, grays, or blues...this year it's all about PASTELS. I personally think taking a spin on your coat and opting for a lighter softer color does give any girl a touch of femininity (not that we're not girly girls already, lol). I know pastels can be pretty frightening during the cooler months, especially if you live in a area where it snows because the last thing any of girls want is to get our beautiful (lightly colored) coat...dirty. However life is about taking chances so why not do it with fashion. I think pastels is great...you can trade in those dark and somewhat uniform colors for a fresh new brighter you. I'm absolutely ready to take this risk and jump head first into this trend, I think it's fun...and super girly (totally me).
DISCLAIMER: For the next 3 weeks I will be featuring a coat from this seasons trending coats...Hope you enjoy!!
Military Green
Top: MNG by Mango
Skirt: Forever 21
Boots: Local Boutique
Earrings and Necklace: Forever 21
Just to explain a little...my pictures are always delayed. I take the pictures the day before I post them. That being said yesterday was 9/11 and in support of our troops I decided to wear "military" colors and a military inspired sweater. I have the greatest respect for our armed forces for having the courage to go out and fight for Americas freedom. 9/11 is a day we will never forget, a day that is imprinted into our brains forever. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
What I'm Currently Loving
Like your clothes, shoes, makeup, etc. anytime the seasons change it times to update your handbag as well. I've seen these bags a few times and every time I see them I am just in "aww" at how gorgeous they are. Down side to this...ummmm definitely the price tags. Well...a girl can dream but until my dreams become a reality if I had to choose a great fall bag these are my top 4.
Starting at the heart, which is my favorite
- Kate Spade 2 Park Avenue Beau Bag: Retail $998 (Wowzers)
- Tory Burch Robinson Adjustable Mini: Retail $365 (that's a little better)
- Louis Vuitton W Bag Collection: Retail $3,700 (can't breath)
- Phillip Lim Black Croc-Embossed Leather Medium Satchel: Retail $995 (OUCH)
I'm not completely sure I would even spend the money on some these bags (hint: Louis Vuitton) because I can find a lot more to blow a few grand on. I guess that's people call it a "lust"...you like...A LOT...but do you need it, lol. Well...I can't say I wouldn't spend a pretty penny on handbag because I have (once a year for my bday) but I don't stretch the bank to far. I'm still a stay within reason girl and definitely on budget but every now and then it's nice to give yourself a treat. Anywho...since I love these bag soooo much I'll be on the hunt to find something similar, so...let the hunt begin.
"Steal" the Style: White After Labor Day
Okay...let's just take a minute to say, how cute is Adrienne Bailon. (PAUSE) So...this outfit couldn't be more fitting for not only me (I love cheetah) but the Cheetah girl herself. However on another note there is a stigma behind wearing "white" after Labor Day but I think we have moved into an era where this rule no longer applies. White after Labor Day is totally acceptable and let's be real "white" is ultra chic and a great winter color (in my opinion). New York, NY: August 6, 2013 Spotted: Adrienne Bailon Wearing: TopShop blazer, top, and pants and Manolo Blahnik shoes Time: Evening (I presume) Outfit: "Spunky"
Steal the Style
Top: Similar styles found at NastyGal both for $38
here and
hereBlazer: Similar style at
H&M for $34.94 and
ModDeals for $14.50
Pants: Adrienne's exact pants found at
TopShop for $84 and similar style at
Charlotte-Russe for $17.49
Shoes: Similar styles found at
Zara for $79.99 and
Charlotte-Russe for $28.50
Okay...so to me this outfit you can either let your pants do the talking and keep your jewelry to a minimum or you can layer it and make the outfit super "spunky" and "trendy". Me...personally I'd keep the jewelry simple and play up my makeup, like a funky cat eye and even a bold lip. Enjoy!!!
Leather Sleeves
Top: Target
Jacket: Forever21
Jeans: Kohls
Shoes: JLo
Earrings: H&M
Do you have any jackets that just sit in your closet? Well I have a tons and I am so ready to break them out...only down fall, I live in Florida. It's very rare walking into Fall that Florida has "cool" weather so breaking out the jackets we typically don't get the opportunity to do until late November early December and even then those days are far and few in between. Well I absolutely love this jacket and was like "I'm just going to do it". Even though the weather didn't permit for it, I wanted to wear it because the 2 toned jackets are very in right now and this jacket is super comfortable (even with the leather sleeves).
Black & White
Top/Pants/Earrings: Forever21
Shoes: Bakers
Okay...so I just wrote about ALL the black and white that is in the stores and I got inspired to pull something from my closet to showcase it. I am huge fan of black because is super chic and it's timeless. This outfit to me was effortless and simple. The pants are super comfy (kind of like pajama pants) and the shirt was loose and breezy (perfect) and I definitely went for a bolder lip because the outfit was little more basic.
Monochromatic
Have you been to the store lately? Have seen that huge section with ALL the black and white clothes? Well...it seems to be every time I've hit the mall the past month or so, each store has this huge section full of white and black clothes (and I'm not talking White House Black Market either). Well this past spring the whole "white and black" trend was "in". I guess it's just really hitting the stores hard now. No worries because like a great quote I've read "Fashion is what you're offered four times a year. Style is what you pick out of that fashion...", this quote couldn't be more true. Monochromatic is in for Fall so you can totally fit the black and white in with that as well. However, stay true to you and take some of the things that are offered on the runway and spin it to fit your personality.
That being said...I LOVE white and black...for as long as I can remember that has pretty much been my entire wardrobe. Just recently (the past few years) have I really started branching out into the world of color, lol. Needless to say I am completely okay with the whole black and white trend because this is my style staple. So...next time your hitting up the mall, give that section a try and see what awesome outfits you can come up with and if you need color...make it pop with your accessories for a more trendy look (if that's what you like).
Remember...Black and White is
ALWAYS chic
And white after Labor Day is completely acceptable...Check out
SimplyStayTrue.com artical on "white after Labor Day
Here's some ideas to make the monochromatic (black and white) work.
Chic, edgy, sporty, or sophisticated...it all works!!!
"Steal" the Style: The Afternoon Date
Even though Summer has come to an end and Fall has hit...we are still experiencing warmer days (at least in Florida). To me...this is perfect outfit for an afternoon date when the weather is not to hot, yet not to cool (the perfect breeze). It's still light enough and covered enough to enjoy the changing season. Culver City, CA: July 26, 2013 Spotted: Kristin Cavallari Wearing: Intermix Silk paisley pants, Cavallari Chinese Laundry Copertina pumps, and loose tank. Time: Sometime in the afternoon Outfit: "Daytime Chic"
Steal the Style
Top: Take any loose fitting "white" tank you already own or one that is fitting to your style
Pants: Similar pants found at
The Iconic for $54.95 and
Uniqlo for $14.90 (score!!!)
Heels: Piperlime has a nice pair of Aldo pumps for $80 and
Zappo has a pair of nude Michael Antonio Lydia Suede for $39.99
Keep the jewelry to a minimum, this will keep you looking soft, chic, and effortless like Kristine.
A Stylist Dream
Have you ever watched a show that has you ready to dart to the mall? I have 2 and if Gossip Girl was still on there would be 3, but for now my fashion obsessed shows are Pretty Little Liars and The Carrie Diaries. Every time I watch these shows, I get crazy annoyed because it's 9pm by time the show is off and the mall is closed (UGH!!!). I have to give major props to the shows stylist Mandi Line (PLL) and Eric Daman (TCD) for totally swagging out these shows (Yes, I said "swagging" lol). Pretty Little Liars fashion is bit more edgy where as The Carrie Diaries is like modern day 80's (umm heck yeah). Besides these two shows having some very inspiring fashion...they also have great story lines (I'll be sad when either go off air).
Here's my tribute to a good days work by an awesome stylist.
Last year while in LA I actually had the chance to visit the Pretty Little Liars set at Warner Brothers...It was a bit surreal to be walking the halls of Rosewood High and seeing the "bedrooms" of the cast members. None the less it was a pretty cool experience (to bad I lost my camera in LA).
